Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher: Let me take you on a tour!

Let me take you on a tour!

Welcome to my blog! I wanted a way to document my 1st year as a teacher and I couldn't think of a better way! I have had several other blogs for past jobs and I had a lot of fun with them!

A little about me... I have a degree in Political Science. However, after spending 8 years as a stay-at-home mom to our four children- I no longer had the heart for politics. Teaching was calling my name! So I went back to school to be a High School Government teacher. Right after school I started long-term subbing in 2nd grade. And I felt like I was right where I belonged. Last summer, I was offered a last-minute position as a 3rd grade teacher! I won't lie- there have been tears, doubts and stress. And yet, I love it!!!

So let me take you on a tour of my circus themed classroom!

This is the view when you walk in the door...

And if you look to the right...

Here is a closer look at my reading corner...

My husband made my bookshelves for me and I love them!

Above one side of my book shelves in my math wall. It's huge and yet I still wish I could fit more on it! I just wish that it had a more creative circus type title.

On the other side of my bookshelves, I keep the kids' book boxes. They keep the books that they are reading in their box so that they don't waste time daily in the class library.

Above the book boxes is my great work board...

And next to that you will find my kids' mailboxes...

And that last little bit of wall is our Science board. Right now it has artwork from our plant unit.

I have my class jobs posted in the front of the classroom with a sign that says "Juggling Jobs"...

And right next to that you will find my writing station and water bottle holder...

A couple other fun things in my circus room...

My clown behavior chart...

Our No Clownin' Around class rules (which I made and will soon be part of an entire circus kit in my TpT store!)...

And my welcome board as you enter the class (the big top tent name tags will be in the kit too!)...

And that is my home away from home. I know it is nothng fancy and it is always evolving. But for a 1st year teacher- I think it is something to be proud of!

Thanks for taking the tour!
