Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher: My Home Office

My Home Office

I am excited to participate in Ashley and Angie's link up this month! I am super proud of my brand new home office and can't wait to show it to you.

I have to apologize though. My office does not have good lighting. I need to work on that! The lack of natural light in a small room makes it very hard to photograph. I did my very best, but be gentle with the photographer. :-)

I just moved in March and the new house has a small room right next to the living room and bathroom that has become my home office. The first thing that I did was head to Pinterest for color combo ideas. This is the one that I fell in love with...

I decided to be brave and paint my walls the gray color! With a color combo in mind, I went to Kirklands and Bed, Bath & Beyond for a mini shopping spree.

I still have work to do, but here is a look as you walk in the door...

This desk was purchased years ago from Staples. I love the granite top. It is very durable and easy to clean up. (But one day, I would love to have a white desk. I have to learn how to be cleaner first.)

I have a paper tray on my desk. It was purchased at Wal-Mart or an office supply store ages ago. It was originally black. My husband spray painted it for me! It worked beautifully!

In the last pic, you can see my closet doors. The closet is full of my scrapbooking and stamping supplies. Sadly, I seem to have given up that hobby. But I can't seem to get rid of my supplies. Maybe someday!

I fell in love with the chair and pillow from Kirklands.

Having a home business (on top of a full-time job and four kids), requires a lot of dedication and motivation. I wanted my walls to have sayings that would keep inspiring me to work hard. I made these sayings and stuck them in cheap Wal-Mart frames.

"It's Kind of Fun to Do the Impossible."

"Believe You Can and You Will."

"Always Do What You Are Afraid to Do"

"What Will Be Will Always Find a Way."

Next to my desk, I have a filing cabinet that also holds my printer and laminator.

I love the picture above the printing station. I got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Here is a better picture of it.

Not pictured is a book case that sits across from my desk. It is pretty much empty. I need some trinkets!

I have a confession. Although I love my new office, most of the work happens here....

...on the couch! Please tell me that I am not alone!

I look forward to checking out my blog buddies' offices!

  1. I still crack up when I read about your couch/pillow confession because that is SO ME when I am not sitting in my office working. Your office is beautiful. I actually really like the dark wood and granite top. Why don't you just ship that up to Minnesota when you decide to go with a white desk! ;) Love your color combos too. Thanks for linking up with us Jamie.
