Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher: Monday Made It- Open House Stations

Monday Made It- Open House Stations

It is so hard to type this...but my summer is winding down. I go back on Wednesday and my students start on the following Wednesday. I had to dry my tears and go into the classroom to set up and prepare for our meet the teacher open house. Students and parents come in two days before school starts to meet their teacher, fill out paperwork and bring in classroom supplies. It gets really busy and it can be hard for me to help every family, so I like to set up stations that tell them what they need to do.

My classroom is a sports theme. I like to call the open house our kick-off party. So obviously my station needed to be sports themed too! I attached the signs to some cheap sports cones that I purchased at Wal-Mart.

Besides making my station signs- I also made some for YOU!

You can grab my sports themed ones for FREE by clicking on this picture.

Or Grab these bright colored ones for FREE by clicking on this picture.

Do you have a meet the teacher open house before school starts? When do students bring in classroom supplies?

  1. Hi Jamie! Great idea! Thanks for the freebie! I am a new blogger and your blog is terrific! I have been struggling with how to get started. Because a lot of what I do is attributed to what I have learned along the way. But I love how you reference the professional literature you got the ideas/validation from! Now that sounds more like my style! :)

  2. Such a great idea of having stations for everyone to go through. Those look great. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Thanks Jamie...these are great!!! I'm going to grab the colorful ones and tell my gr. level teaching partner about the sports ones...they're even in orange...her team color!!!
We team teach and do just about everything the same (I'm so blessed and lucky) including thinking..ha! So these will be perfect...the same and yet personalized a bit. Thanks agian!!!

  5. These Bright station signs will be perfect for my Meet the Teacher event in a few weeks, thanks for sharing!

  6. I love the Sports Theme!!! I decided to go with that this year and am working on some things but these are amazing!!!! Thanks for sharing!!

  7. What a great idea! I'm going to use the brights set. I usually have a mob of people coming in and out of the room and we are supposed to do a presentation about our expectations (academic, social, behavior, etc). This will help occupy parents as they come in during the middle of the presentation and wait for the next one or want to talk to me. I always feel like I'm ignoring them if they come in in the middle of things. Thanks so much for sharing, especially as a freebie.

  8. Thanks for this freebie, Jamie! I did stations at last year's BTS night, but the signs were Uglyville compared to yours. I'll definitely be using your bright colored version this year.

  9. These are so cute. We don't have our meet the teacher night until the school has already started, but I know that I can still use them to help parents get all they need to take home that night. Thanks so much for the freebie :)
